Lake Quinault's Ryan Mickelson went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and two triples, sending the Elks past Northport 8-7 and into the Class 1B state championship game Friday night at Parker Field.

Mickelson's big day really got rolling with the homer over the left field fence in the third inning to give the Elks (15-4) a 4-2 lead.

Northport answered, scoring three in the bottom of the fourth when Dillon Dombrowski laced a shot into left, scoring one and giving the Mustangs a 5-4 advantage.

Lake Quinault's Michael Mayton, however, helped put the Elks back in the lead for good in the fifth with a three-run double with two outs to key a four-run rally.

Mayton then closed the game out on the mound, pitching the final three innings despite taking a line drive off his ankle in the fifth.

He gave up two runs on four hits. Mayton did it at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. In the bottom of the seventh, Northport (23-3) went in order as Mayton struck out the 7-8-9 hitters with aggressive pitching to earn the save.

Northport's Tucker Guglielmino pitched four innings, striking out six and walking four. He was 2-for-2 at the dish with two runs and a walk.

Lake Quinault will play Colton (14-8) at 4 p.m. Saturday at Parker Field.
