Touchet rallies to third place over Northport

TOURNEYTOWN.COM

Saul Martinez's two-run single keyed a four-run seventh inning as Touchet rallied past Northport 10-9 to claim third place in the Class 1B state tournament Saturday at Parker Field.

The Indians had just two hits in the inning -- Marshall Byerley also doubled -- but took advantage of a pair of Mustang errors and a walk.

Martinez finished with two hits and two runs, and Joey Haggberg was 2-for-2, stole four bases and scored a pair of runs for Touchet, which finished 16-8 and earned its best state finish since taking second in Class B in 1997.

Northport, the third-place finisher in this tournament last year, was lead by Tucker Guglielmino (3-for-5, two triples, 2 runs) and Casey Cox (3-for-5, three RBI, two runs).

The Mustangs finished the season 23-4.
