Walker strikes out seven in complete-game 3-0 victory

Brandon Walker struck out seven and tossed a complete-game three-hitter as Kalama beat Cashmere 3-0 on Friday to earn a return trip to the Class 1A baseball championship game.

Walker, who rarely got into trouble, retired the final eight batters he faced. He allowed a leadoff double in the second, but struck out the next two batters and got a bloop infield pop out to end the inning.

Cashmere put its leadoff batters on base via singles in the third and fifth, but a double play wiped out the threat in the third, and the Bulldogs' fifth-inning hopes were dashed when the leadoff baserunner was thrown out trying to steal second.

The Chinooks scored in the fourth on John Tapley's bases-loaded walk and added another run when Nick LaRoy stole home with the bases loaded. LaRoy drove in the run in the fifth on a ground out.
