   No. 1 Brewster Routs North Beach

YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC

YAKIMA, Wash. -- David Pendergraft scored a game-high 31 points and pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds as top-ranked Brewster rolled to an 83-54 first-round victory over North Beach in the Class 1A state boys basketball tournament Wednesday at the Yakima Valley SunDome.

Pendergraft, a 6-foot-6 junior, converted 14 of 25 field goals, including 8 of 12 in the first half as the Bears (25-0) pulled out to a 47-32 halftime lead.

Teammate Andy Hill added 20 points on 10-of-15 field-goal shooting.

Brewster outrebounded the Hyaks (14-11) 53-22. The Bears also held a 24-3 scoring advantage from its bench reserves.

Thad Vinson led North Beach with 16 points, and Devin Timpson and Peter Fry added 13 each. Fry also had five rebounds.
