YAKIMA, Wash. -- Jonathan Medley scored eight of his game-high 14 points in the second half and helped lead Charles Wright to its first-ever state-tournament victory, a 33-27 win over River View, Thursday in the Class 1A boys state tournament.

Two free throws by Casey Patnode with 5:11 to play pushed CW ahead for good, and Medley added five points down the stretch to seal the win.

The game set tournament records for least combined total points, previously set in 1980 in Colfax’s 35-28 win over Toledo, and lowest winning score, originally set by White River in 1973 and matched by Colfax in 1980 when each winner scored 35 points.

Sam Bathurst added nine points for Charles Wright (19-7), and Medley pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

Nate Remer scored 13 points for River View, which ended its season at 17-8.
