YAKIMA, Wash. -- Michael Godsey scored a team-high 17 points to lead sixth-ranked Napavine past two-time defending state champion King’s 53-46 in a Class 1A boys state quarterfinal game Thursday.

Godsey scored 10 of his points in the first half, when the Tigers (22-3) built a 23-16 halftime lead.

Loren Bluhm added 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for Napavine.

King’s, which slipped to 15-11, got 20 points from Chris Faidley, but no other player scored in double figures.
The Knights tied the game three times in the third quarter, and even took a one-point lead early in the second half, but Napavine retook the lead for good on a field goal by Tyson Sturza with 3:31 to play in the third and then built a six-point lead after three quarters.

King’s never got any closer.

John Zevenbergen had 11 rebounds for the Knights.
