Faidley Leads King's in 71-42 Rout

YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Chris Faidley scored 42 points and tied a tournament record in leading King’s to fourth place in the Class 1A boys state tournament with a 71-42 win over Freeman on Saturday.

Faidley’s eight 3-point goals tied the record set by Ephrata’s Travis King in 1992. Faidley tied the record late in the third quarter but missed four fourth-quarter shots trying to break the mark. His 42 points fell five short of tying the tournament record for single-game scoring.

King’s, which finished 17-11, rolled out to a 31-17 halftime lead and put the game away with a 23-9 third quarter. Faidley scored 15 points in the third, including the team’s first eight points.

Faidley made 14 of 23 shots, including 8 of 15 3-point tries. He also had four assists and four steals.

Teammate John Zevenbergen pulled down 11 rebounds.
For Freeman (25-6), which placed seventh, Jon Dresback scored 17 points and Jason Bailey added 10. Shane Lewis had 10 rebounds.

NOTE: An additional story on Chris Faidley's 3-point shooting will be added to this site later Saturday.
