YAKIMA, Wash. -- Brianne King scored 11 of her game-high 18 points in the first half, and ninth-ranked Coupeville eliminated No. 8 Winlock 53-44 on Thursday at the Class 1A boys state tournament.

Erica Lamb added 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting and Amy Mouw had 11 – all but two in the second half. King also made four of her eight 3-point attempts.

Coupeville improved to 19-7, while Winlock closed its season at 16-8.

Summer Sykes scored 12 points to lead the Cardinals, and teammate Adrienne Cobbs added 10. But Winlock suffered from cold field-goal shooting, making 28.8 percent (15 of 52) of its shots to 40.4 percent (21 of 52) for Coupeville.

Sykes had a game-high 11 rebounds, and Whitney Bryant added nine.
