  Dayton Surprises CPC, 59-30

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Shawna Snyder poured in 14 points and Amber Steinhoff added 11 as Dayton beat seventh-ranked Cedar Park Christian 59-30 in the first round of the Class 1A girls state basketball tournament on Wednesday.

Steinhoff hit two of her three 3-pointers in the first quarter as Dayton (15-9) pulled out to a 27-17 halftime lead and poured it on in the second half, when the Bulldogs outscored Cedar Park Christian 32-13.

The Eagles (20-6) were hurt by a poor shooting performance. CPC converted just 19.6 percent (10 of 51) of its shots in the game, and only made five field goals in the second half.

Monique Lee had 11 points for Cedar Park Christian.

Dayton outrebounded the Eagles 59-31. Trisha Heinrich pulled down 11 rebounds, while Snyder had eight, Brook McLeod seven and Katie Powell six.
