YAKIMA, Wash. -- Julie Parsons sank a free throw with 1:47 to play that broke a 41-41 tie, and Onalaska added three more free throws down the stretch to come away with a 45-41 upset win over third-ranked Archbishop Murphy on Wednesday in the Class 1A girls state tournament.

After Parsons’ free throw broke the tie, ABM missed six shots, including four 3-point attempts, in the final 1:32. The Wildcats also turned the ball over on one possession.

Alida Bower scored 20 points to lead Onalaska (18-7), and Parsons added 10 points. Bower pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

Archbishop Murphy, which slipped to 21-3, got 19 points from Lisa Coate and 16 from Lauren Coate, but the team’s other three players who scored only combined for six points.

Lisa Coate had a game-high 17 rebounds and Lauren Coate had 14 as ABM outrebounded Onalaska 53-37. However, the Wildcats turned the ball over 20 times to just nine for the Loggers.
