  Second Half Lifts Tonasket to Win

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Shayne Freeman and Krissy Call each scored 10 points in the second half to lead fourth-ranked Tonasket to a 52-37 victory over Burbank on Wednesday in the Class 1A girls state tournament.

Freeman led the Tigers (21-4) with 17 points, and Call poured in 16 as Tonasket put the game out of reach with a 28-13 run in the second half.

Burbank (12-13) had three players in double figures, led by Shana Smith’s 12 points. Katie Turner and Nicole Woods each chipped in 10.

But the Coyotes had trouble controlling the ball, and committed 20 turnovers to Tonasket’s 10. The Tigers turned Burbank’s turnovers into 14 points.

Meg Smith pulled down seven rebounds and Call had six as Tonasket held a 36-34 rebounding advantage. Turner had eight boards for the Coyotes.
