Connell Knocks Off Lyncs, 57-45

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Kase Wells scored 19 points and Steven Dorman added 16 as
Connell beat Lynden Christian 57-45 in the opening game of the Class 2A boys
state tournament Wednesday.
Both scored 10 points as the Eagles (13-12) pulled out to a 28-16 halftime
lead.
The Lyncs (14-10), meanwhile, suffered a dismal shooting half in the first
two quarters, hitting just 8 of 32 shots. LC was 0-for-11 from 3-point range
during the first half.
Dorman also pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds as Connell outboarded the
Lyncs 41-31.
A.J. Hoekema led LC with 12 points and eight rebounds, and Nathan Kooi added
11 points and seven rebounds. Hoekema hit 5 of 7 shots in the first half;
the rest of the team was a combined 3 for 25.
Lynden Christian cut its deficit to five points
(36-31) early in the fourth quarter but could get no closer.
