   Lyncs Rally to Oust Meridian, 58-55

YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Greg Burgers sank a 3-pointer with 17 seconds to play, and Mark Holleman iced the game with two free throws as Lynden Christian rallied to beat Meridian 58-55 Thursday in the Class 2A boys state tournament.

Holleman scored a team-high 15 points, including nine in the fourth quarter when LC outscored the Trojans 24-14. A.J. Hoekema and Kevin Kooy added 13 points each.

The Lyncs (15-10) trailed by nine early in the fourth quarter before rallying. Meridian, which led the majority of the game, didn’t get off a final shot and ended its season at 12-13.

Holleman and Kooy each sank three 3 pointers.

William Wentz led the Trojans with 15 points, Jonathan Mark had 14 and Jordan Slesk 13. Wantz also had a game-high 12 rebounds.

Meridian outshot Lynden Christian 47 percent to 38 percent, but the Lyncs converted 50 percent of their shots in the second half.

Hoekema made 6 of 11 shots. He also had six rebounds, three assists and four steals.
