   Wood Leads Connell Into Semis

YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Janica Wood paced Connell with 20 points as the Eagles advanced to the state semifinals with a 54-44 win Thursday over Nooksack Valley in the Class 2A girls tournament.

Candance Mathews added 12 points for the Eagles (20-6), while Wood also had a game-high 12 rebounds.

Kara Groen led the Pioneers (17-7) with 11 points and Devin Dykstra added 10 points and seven rebounds.

NV suffered from 18 turnovers and poor shooting (29 percent) in the first half, when Connell moved out to a 27-19 halftime lead.
