McCormick Shot Lifts
Pumas, 46-45
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Ian McCormick hit a layup with four seconds remaining to
lift University Prep to a 46-45 consolation-round victory over Bellevue
Christian on Friday in the Class 1A boys state tournament.
A desperation 3-point attempt by BC’s Spencer Kraker at
the buzzer was off the mark.

Bellevue Christian, which trailed most of the game,
took its second and final lead of the contest when Jeffrey Downs scored a
layup off a pass from Nate Hendricks that put the Vikings up 45-44 with 10
seconds remaining.
Jordan Schultz paced UP (23-4) with 12 points, while
McCormick added 11 and Will Lippitt nine.
Downs and Hendricks each scored 12 points to lead the
Vikings, who finished their season at 18-7. Bryan Egly added 11. Downs also
pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds and had two assists, two blocked shots
and a steal.
McCormick and Lippitt each had eight rebounds for the
Pumas.
