Napavine Holds Off Warriors, 40-39

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Raychel Wilson scored Napavine’s final five points – her only points of the game – as the Tigers held off a late Seattle Christian charge to beat the Warriors 40-39 in the first round of the Class 1A girls state basketball tournament on Wednesday.

Wilson, a starter who played 15 ½ minutes of the game, was just 2 of 11 from the field and 0-for-3 from 3-point range.

Regan McNelly led Napavine (21-3) with nine points, and Trisha Kaut and Alicia Richardson each added seven.

Laura Santie paced the Warriors (15-13) with 12 points. Kelsey Peterson’s 3-pointer at the buzzer closed the scoring.

Santie pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds, but Napavine outboarded the Warriors 49-46. Brooke Diehl had 11 rebounds and Richardson 10 for the Tigers.
