Murphy Cruises Past Forest Ridge

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Jamie Lyons scored 14 points and Lisa Coate added 11 as Archbishop Murphy stayed alive in the consolation bracket of the Class 1A girls state tournament with a 50-25 victory over Forest Ridge on Thursday.

The Wildcats (21-4) rolled out to a 29-14 halftime lead and steadily pulled away in the second half.

Coate, who scored 44 points in an opening-round loss Wednesday, made just 3 of 9 shots Thursday, but had 11 rebounds, two blocks and a steal.

Neither team shot well. ATM made 26.8 percent (19 of 71) of its shots, while Forest Ridge made 18 percent (9 of 50).
