Watts Leads Colfax
Past Burbank
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Kristin Watts poured in 20 points and Jenna Vuletich added
16 as Colfax defeated Burbank 66-56 in a Class 1A girls quarterfinal state
contest Thursday.
The Bulldogs (25-4) jumped out to a 12-4 first-quarter
lead and never trailed, though Burbank tied the game at 37-37 late in the
third quarter on a basket by Hayley Clemmens. The Bulldogs ran off the final
nine points of the quarter, however, and led 46-37 at the end of the third
period.
Natalie Shaw chipped in 13 points for Colfax, and Shaw,
Vuletich and Watts each pulled down seven rebounds.
Lauren Rada led Burbank (20-6) with 17 points and nine
rebounds, while Shana Smith added 13 and Nicole Woods 12.
Burbank hurt its cause with 30 turnovers, while
Colfax’s defense came up with 16 steals.
