Winlock Outlasts ATM in OT

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Alex Spencer and Whitney Bryant each scored four points in overtime as Winlock outlasted Archbishop Murphy 84-79 in the Class 1A girls state tournament Wednesday.

The loss overshadowed a 44-point effort by ATM’s Lisa Coate, who made 18 of 26 shots and scored 29 points in the second half.

The two teams combined to set a record for total points in a state tournament game (163), breaking the old record of 150, set by ATM and Toledo in 2002.

Summer Sykes led Winlock (18-6) with 29 points on 10-of-23 shooting. She also made 9 of 13 free throws. Bryant added 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting.

Sykes and Bryant also had 12 and 10 rebounds, respectively, and Bryant had seven assists.
