Peru Leads Spudders Past L.C.

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Jonny Peru poured in 23 points, including 15 in the first half, to lead Ridgefield past Lynden Christian 53-44 in a loser-out game Thursday in the Class 2A boys state tournament.

Peru made 8 of 20 shots from the field, including four of his first five shots as the Spudders (19-6) raced to a 19-6 lead after one quarter.

Teammate Drew Bleth added 15 points, and Pat Byrne pulled down six rebounds. Peru added five rebounds, five assists and a steal.

Greg Burgers led the Lyncs (15-10) with 16 points. Kyle Coston and Jeff Hoekstra each added eight points and six rebounds.
