YAKIMA, Wash. -- Chelan’s boys capped a perfect day for the Central
Washington Athletic Conference at the Class 2A state tournament Wednesday
with a 42-34 win over Ridgefield at the Yakima Valley SunDome.
The CWAC brought four boys and four girls teams to the
tournament. All eight teams won their respective first-round games, meaning
half of Thursday’s quarterfinal field is from that conference.
Calin Schell led Chelan with 20 points and 15 rebounds.
Schell split his totals almost evenly in the game, scoring 10 points and
grabbing eight boards in the first half.
Chelan trailed 19-11 at halftime after shooting 14.8
percent from the field. But in the second half the Goats -- the 2002
runner-up -- hit 50 percent of their shots to overtake the Spudders.
