Malcolm Soelberg poured in a game-high 18 points as second-ranked Freeman powered through Seattle Academy 70-32 in the opening round of the Class 1A boys state tournament on Wednesday.

The Scotties (22-2) rolled out to a 19-7 lead after one quarter and never saw their lead dip to below that 12-point margin the rest of the game.

DeAngelo Casto added nine points and 10 rebounds for the Scotties, Kevin Hatch had nine points and Shane Lewis pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

Alex Brown led the Cardinals with 17 points and eight rebounds, and teammate Phillip Berry had seven rebounds.
