Tigers gain semis
Napavine holds BC scoreless in third quarter
YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC
Katie Carns scored 13 points and Trisha Kaut added
11 as Napavine powered past Bellevue Christian 43-21 on Thursday in the
Class 1A girls state tournament.
The Tigers (24-1) managed a 25-13 halftime lead,
then held BC scoreless in the third quarter en route to gaining a spot
in Friday’s semifinal game against either Colfax or Lake Roosevelt, who
play later Thursday.
Rebecca King score 10 points to lead the Vikings
(20-4), who made just 2 of 20 field-goal tries in the second half.
Napavine’s defense came up with 13 steals,
including three from Amanda Ridley, and BC hurt its cause with 24
turnovers.
Brooke Diehl pulled down eight rebounds for the
Tigers; BC’s Melissa Reich had a game-high nine rebounds.
