White Pass stops
Burbank at buzzer
Redmon's driving layup wins it, 55-53
YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC
Kendra Redmon tossed in a layup at the buzzer as
White Pass rallied to beat Columbia of Burbank 55-53 Friday in the
consolation round of the Class 1A girls state tournament.
Redmon, who finished with eight points for the
Panthers, drove the length of the court with just eight seconds left
after White Pass rebounded a Columbia miss and called timeout. She
weaved through traffic on the right side, letting the ball go as the
clock expired.
Redmon sank the front end of a two-shot free-throw
situation with 44 seconds left to forge a 53-53 tie.
Freshman Breanna Moody paced White Pass (20-6) with
26 points and 11 rebounds, and Deanna Riffe added 14 points.
The fifth-ranked Panthers, who outscored Columbia
15-8 in the fourth quarter and trailed by 12 midway through the third
quarter, will face Lake Roosevelt at noon Saturday for fourth place.
Hayley Clemmens led Columbia with 16 points, while
Shana Smith scored 14 and had nine rebounds.
The third-ranked Coyotes ended the year at 22-4.
