lifting Forks past Connell 53-50 in overtime Friday in the consolation
bracket of the Class 2A boys state tournament.
The Spartans, who scored the final five points of
the game and improved to 20-7, will play for fifth place Saturday at
10:30 a.m. Forks’ only prior state trophy was sixth place in 1969.

the score at 50 after Connell scored the first two points of the extra
period.
Dallas Huggins led Forks with 14 points, while
Dustin Daniels added 13 points and Jordan Justus 11 points and nine
rebounds.
John Conrad led Connell (20-7) with 15 points and
six rebounds, and Kris Knight had 13 points and six rebounds.
Knight sank a 3-pointer with 31 seconds to go in
regulation, and Forks was unable to get off a final shot to force the
overtime period.
Connell's loss signaled the end of head coach Jerry
Groenig's long and storied coaching career that extends more than four
decades.
