Jenny Polm led four Chewelah players in
double-figures as ninth-ranked Chewelah beat Chimacum 78-31 in the
opening round of the Class 2A girls state tournament Wednesday.
Chewelah's

a game-high 16 points.
Polm, who finished with a game-high 16 points, and
Jochelle Schatz, who had 10, each scored eight in the first half as the
Cougars (19-4) jumped out to a 22-5 lead after the first quarter and
never looked back.
Teammates Nikki Nelson and Jen Leick scored 12
points each for Chewelah. Leick pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds, and
Amanda Whitley added 10.
Caitlin Eldridge led the Cowboys (11-13) with 13
points.
Chimacum converted just 24.4 percent (11 of 45) of
its shots, while the Cougars made 50 percent (32 of 64).
