past Spuds, 66-47
 

Mountaineers to play for fourth place Saturday

YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC

Stephani Kier dominated offensively and defensively Friday in lifting Mount Baker to a 66-47 victory over Ridgefield in the consolation bracket of the Class 2A girls state tournament.

Kier scored a game-high 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting and hauled in a game-high 17 rebounds, and scored six points to lead the Mountaineers’ 21-10 third-quarter charge that pushed them ahead.

Jacki Phillips added 13 points for the winners, and Courtney Van Brocklin added 12 points and 11 rebounds, including four points during the third-quarter run.

Mount Baker (16-10) advances to Saturday’s noon contest for fourth and seventh places. Ridgefield ended its year at 17-9.

Brooke Lowery paced the Spudders with 19 points and eight rebounds, and Lauren Hefflin contributed 13 points.
