Kier's 19 leads
Mt. Baker to fourth
 

Van Brocklin added 16 in 54-43 win over Lyncs

Stephani Kier scored a game-high 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Mount Baker to a fourth-place finish in the Class 2A girls state tournament Saturday with a 54-43 win over Lynden Christian.

Kier made 6 of 7 field-goal attempts as the Mountaineers (17-10) beat the Lyncs (23-5) for the third time in five meetings between the District 1 foes.

Courtney Van Brocklin added 16 points for Mount Baker, which led 25-20 at halftime before the Lyncs took a brief third-quarter advantage.

But Kier, who had 10 points after intermission, put the Mountaineers ahead to stay with a pair of free throws that made it 31-30 with 3:17 to go in the third.

Kristin De Haan scored 13 points and Brianne Ryan added 11 for the Lyncs. Teammate Kristin Berendsen had a game-high 10 rebounds.
