Hartill scores 17 of 22 in second half

Angela Hartill scored 17 of her game-high 22 points in the second half as Riverside rallied to beat Chelan, 57-54, for third place Saturday in the Class 2A girls state tournament.

The win gave the Rams (21-6) their first state basketball trophy. Chelan, last year’s champion, finish sixth at 22-5.

Trailing by nine early in the fourth quarter, Riverside outscored Chelan 23-16 in the final period, and took the lead for good on a Hartill putback with 1:59 to play. The Rams made 11 of 14 free-throw tries in the fourth.

Jamie Hinkley added 10 points for the Rams. Teammate Sarra Arras finished with seven, all in the fourth, including two 3-pointers.

Hartill also pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds, including seven offensive rebounds.

Cassy Pilkinton and Kristin Schramm led Chelan with 18 points each.
