Tiffany Tyler led Mount Baker with 20 points as the Mountaineers toppled third-ranked Connell 58-50 Wednesday in the Class 2A girls state tournament.

Tyler scored nine points in the second quarter, and her three-point play with 2:29 before the half snapped a 19-19 deadlock and pushed the Mountaineers ahead for good.

Teammate Courtney Van Brocklin added 12 points for Mount Baker, which improved to 15-9.

Cydney Knight scored 15 points and Britney Cottrell had 11 for the Eagles (19-6).

Mount Baker outrebounded Connell 44-33, and pulled down 16 offensive rebounds to Connell’s 17 defensive grabs.
