Tinnell leads Ephrata's 48-41 win with 19 points

YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC

Laura Tinnell scored a game-high 19 points to lead Ephrata over sixth-ranked Woodland 48-41 on Wednesday in the Class 2A girls state tournament.

Tinnell scored 11 points – including three 3-pointers -- during the Tigers’ 22-3 second-quarter run that pushed them ahead 27-14 at halftime.

Woodland pulled within five points late in the game but couldn’t catch Ephrata.

Overall, Tinnell converted 6 of 13 shots, including 4 of 7 treys.

Ephrata improved to 19-6 while Woodland slipped to 18-6.

Ali McLendon led the Beavers with 15 points and Megan Peabody had 14. Both also had eight rebounds.

Margie Lou Correll pulled down a game-high seven rebounds for the Tigers, and Tinnell had six. Tinnell also had four steals.

Correll's seven blocks tied the individual single-game record set by Chelan's Sarah Schramm last year in a game also against Woodland.
