Eighth-ranked Toledo turned back a late charge from Charles Wright and defeated the Tarriers 36-27 on Friday in the consolation bracket of the Class 1A boys state tournament.

Ryan Votaw scored 10 points to lead Toledo (24-3), who led by 11 points early in the final quarter before CW went on a 7-0 run to make it 31-27 with 3:04 to play. But the Tarriers wouldn’t score again, and Toledo ran off five points to close the scoring.

Jason King and Chad Amrine each added eight points for the Indians, who will play at 9 a.m. Saturday for fifth and eighth places.

Jordan Artis scored 10 points and had eight rebounds for the Tarriers, who finished at 14-10.
