Michael Taylor poured in 18 points and Chase LaMoreaux added 12 as top-ranked Brewster cruised past Ilwaco 62-24 in the first round of the Class 1A boys state tournament on Wednesday.

Taylor scored 14 of his points in the first half as the Bears, who won titles in 2003 and 2004, rolled out to a 31-9 halftime lead.

Taylor added 12 rebounds for Brewster (22-1), who outrebounded Ilwaco (13-11) 38-23. Taylor and teammate Austin Benson each had three of the team’s 16 assists.

Jordan Williams scored 10 points to lead the Fishermen.
