Aaron Richardson-Osgood’s free throw with 1:40 to play pushed Overlake ahead to stay, and the Owls held off Freeman down the stretch for a 57-55 consolation-round victory Friday at the Class 1A boys state tournament.

Richardson-Osgood’s shot was the first of 10 straight free-throw points the Owls posted in the final 1:40, pulling out to five-point leads three times before a Freeman 3-pointer closed the scoring.

The Owls (19-6) will face Granger at noon Saturday for fourth and seventh places.

Jonathan Bechtol led Overlake with 17 points, including 16 in the second half. Teammates Carsten Schmiedl added 15 and Colin Madden had 11.

Andrew Dresback led Freeman with 15 points and eight rebounds.

The Scotties ended their season at 15-12.
