Jessie DePell scored 19 points as No. 2-ranked Freeman defeated Bush 47-19 in the Class 1A girls state tournament Wednesday.

DePell scored 11 of her points in the first quarter, including 10 of her team’s first 15 points, as Freeman (20-3) bolted to a 18-5 lead after the first period and never looked back.

DePell was the only player in double figures for the game. She also had four rebounds, four steals and two assists.

Kelsey Golitz led Bush (15-8) with seven points and six rebounds. Teammate Katie Barthelow added six rebounds.

Freeman's defense mustered 20 steals in the game and helped force Bush into 31 turnovers.
