Jason Paul scored 22 points to lead Riverside to its first-ever Class 2A boys state tournament victory with a 57-45 win over Chelan on Thursday.

The Rams, who improved to 16-10, are playing in their fifth tournament, but had lost all nine previous state games.

Paul made 10 of 15 shots, grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds and had an assist and a steal. Teammate Adam Anderson chipped in 15 points.

Riverside took the lead for good midway through the first quarter and led by as many as 18 in the third quarter.

Bill Buckingham paced Chelan with 14 points and Jeff Johnson added 12.

The Goats ended their year at 16-10.
