Jessie Mansell scored a game-high 18 points and Brittney Roggenkamp added 15 as La Center ousted Vashon Island, 44-27, from the Class 2A girls state tournament Thursday.

Mansell sank 8 of 12 field goals and also grabbed 10 rebounds and three steals. Roggenkamp had made 6 of 8 free-throw tries, and added three rebounds, five assists and three steals.

The Wildcats, who improved to 18-7, put the game out of reach with an 18-3 scoring burst in the third quarter.

Jennifer Osgood led the Pirates with seven points and a game-high 15 rebounds, but Vashon Island suffered from poor shooting, making just 10 of 41 shots (24.4 percent) in the contest.

La Center also scurried for 18 steals, with Brooke Gaston snaring five, as the Pirates were forced into 26 turnovers.

The Pirates ended their year at 17-11.
