Ridgefield jetted to a 19-0 early lead and hung on to beat No. 7 Eatonville 48-43 on Wednesday in the Class 2A girls state tournament.

Lauren Hefflin and Sue Backstrom each scored nine points during the opening run for the Spudders (14-10), who led wire to wire. Hefflin finished with 20 points and Backstrom 13.

Hefflin had 15 rebounds and Tiffany Dawkins added 10.

The final score was the only time Eatonville (22-3) got within five points.

Richelle Heacock led the Cruisers with 15 points.
