Biniam Tadele scored 11 points and Trey Wright added 10 as third-ranked King's turned back a late charge from Tenino to beat the Beavers 54-49 in the first round of the Class 1A boys state tournament Wednesday.

The Knights (20-3) led by 19, 39-20, midway through the third quarter before Tenino went on a 19-5 run into the fourth quarter. That closed the score to 44-39, but the Beavers couldn't get any closer.

Dylan O'Neil pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds for King's, and Wright added seven. O'Neil also had two blocked shots and a steal.

Danny Colley led Tenino (16-8) with 17 points and eight rebounds, and Marc Hedden chipped in 16 points and six rebounds.
