Andrei Lintz hit a layup as time expired to lift Meridian to a 32-31 victory over River View in the first round of the Class 1A boys state tournament Wednesday.

Trailing 31-28, Meridian cut the margin to 31-30 on a Lintz layup with 1:28 to play. River View could have put the game away at the free-throw line, but the Panthers missed the front end of three one-and-one situations in the final 28 seconds to give the Trojans the shot at the game-winner.

Meridian's 32 points set a Class 1A record for lowest winning score.

Lintz led Meridian (12-15) with 13 points and 13 rebounds, and Nate Mark added 11 points. Nine of Lintz's points came in the second half.

Nick Gaston scored 15 points to lead River View (21-4), which never led by more than four points in the contest.
