Kenzie De Boer scored 15 of her game-high 23 points as second-ranked
Lynden Christian turned back a late Chelan rally to beat the Goats 51-47
for third place Saturday in the Class 1A girls state tournament.
The Goats, who trailed 30-17 at halftime, rallied to pull within two
points four times in the fourth quarter, the last time on a 3-pointer by
Kristin Schramm that made the score 49-47. But the Lyncs’ Brianne Ryan,
who scored 10 points, hit a pair of free throws with 14 seconds left to
seal the victory.
Lynden Christian ended its season at 26-2.
De Boer made 7 of 14 shots, including 5 of 8 in the second half. She
also drained three 3-pointers.
Schramm led Chelan (24-5) with 16 points and seven rebounds.
The Lyncs made 39 percent of their shots (18 of 46), but Chelan fared
poorer, making just 23.6 percent (13 of 55), including just 20 percent
(5 of 25) in the first half.
