Phillip Friehe scored 14 points and led four players in double figures as second-ranked Moses Lake Christian rebounded from an opening-day loss to beat Oakville 62-35 Thursday in the Class 1B boys state tournament.

Friehe made 5 of 9 shots, including 3 of 6 from behind the three-point line. Adrian Moffett and Riggs Yarbro added 12 points each, and Taylor McNamara chipped in 10.

The Lions improved to 21-3, while the Acorns ended their season at 12-12.

Beau Shelton led Oakville with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

But the Acorns suffered from poor ball handling, committing 34 turnovers. MLC swiped 19 of those miscues, with Daniel Timofeyev grabbing eight.

MLC took control of the game with a 15-4 second-quarter run that pushed the Lions ahead 26-15 at the half. Oakville never got closer than nine points in the second half.
