Tigercats 51-48 in OT

Mannick, Strandberg pave way with 15 each

Austin Mannick hit a crucial field goal with 53 seconds to go in overtime and two teammates each sank free throws in the final seconds as Curlew rallied to beat LaCrosse-Washtucna 51-48 in overtime in a Class 1B boys quarterfinal game Thursday.

Curlew, which trailed until late in the fourth quarter, improved to 17-8 and will meet top-ranked Sunnyside Christian in Friday’s 9 p.m. semifinal.

Dillon Strandberg, who finished with 15 points, pushed the Cougars ahead 40-39 with 2:52 to play, then Mannick regained the lead with another basket after L-W hit a basket.

The Tigercats (12-16) forced overtime when Jared Ayers-Stamper hit a 3-pointer that knotted the score at 45-45 with 33 seconds remaining.

Mannick also had 15 points for the Cougars.

Ayers-Stamper led the Tigercats with 21 points.
