Drew Hegarty sank a pull-up jumper with two seconds left as Liberty Christian edged Curlew 49-48 for third place at the Class 1B boys state tournament Saturday.

Curlew didn’t get off a viable shot before time expired.

Israel Morgan led LC (20-9) with 12 points and Hegarty had 11.

The Cougars (17-10) took their lone lead of the fourth quarter when Austin Mannick sank a shot with 15 seconds left that put Curlew up 48-47.

But Hegarty took the inbounds pass, drove and pulled up about 12 feet from the basket with the game-winner.

Mannick scored a game-high 24 points, including 14 in the second half. Teammate Tyrone Novikoff had 12 rebounds.
