Lesjar McKinney scored 22 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as Tulalip Heritage beat Oakville 73-45 on Wednesday in the first round of the Class 1B state tournament.

McKinney converted 8 of 14 shots and was 4-for-9 from behind the three-point arc as the Hawks (21-3) pulled out to a 39-25 halftime lead and put the game away with a 19-5 third-quarter burst.

Antonio Johnson added 16 points and Jeff Monsegur 14 for the Hawks. Johnson also had nine rebounds as Tulalip Heritage outrebounded the Acorns 43-30.

Sammuel Boyd led Oakville with 14 points and Beau Shelton chipped in 12.

But the Acorns suffered from poor shooting, making just 26.7 percent (16 of 60) shots to the Hawks' 47.4 percent (27 of 57).
