Blackhawks rally back to top St. John-Endicott

Glen Robertson sank four free throws in the final 30 seconds to lift Lummi to a 66-62 victory over St. John-Endicott in the first round of the Class 1B boys state tournament Wednesday.

Lummi, which trailed most of the second and third quarters, took its first lead of the second half on a Robertson putback with 5:56 to play that pushed the Blackhawks in front 52-51.

St. John-Endicott, which retook the lead twice down the stretch, knotted the score at 62-62 on a three-pointer by Warren Miller with 39 seconds to play.

But Robertson, who finished with 14 points, sank both ends of a 1-and-1 with 30 seconds to go, then made two more free shots with eight seconds left.

A St. John-Endicott three-pointer missed at the buzzer.

Wilson and Brandon Dennis led Lummi with 20 points each. Wilson also had nine rebounds.

Wyatt Sitton led the Eagles with 16 points, while Miller had 15 and Brett Larson 11.
