in overtime, 59-56
 

Mannick's 24 paces Curlew's first-round win

Austin Mannick poured in a game-high 24 points and pushed his team ahead for good in overtime as Curlew rallied for a 59-56 overtime victory over Entiat on Wednesday in the Class 1B boys state tournament.

Mannick, who converted 12 of 23 shots and had 13 rebounds, hit a fade-away basket with 2:55 to play in overtime to push the Cougars ahead for good 57-56. Bernard Payne and Dillon Strandberg each added a free throw down the stretch to close out the scoring.

Two Entiat three-point attempts missed their mark at the end of the game.

Payne added 12 points and Strandberg 10 for the Cougars, who improved to 16-8.

Jeff Pittsinger paced Entiat (17-6) with 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Fredy Quezada added 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Jacob Anderson also had 12 points.
