Kellie Sansom had scored 20 points and had 15 rebounds as Lake Quinault held off a late rally to beat North Sound Christian 40-39 in a Thursday consolation game at the Class 1B girls state tournament.

Leading by as many as nine points early in the final quarter, the Elks (14-9) survived a 12-4 North Sound Christian run that closed the score to 38-37 with 1:31 to play.

Tia Allen scored her only two points of the game on a jumper with 1:16 to play and a final basket by the Lions closed the scoring.

Silvanna Kalama added 10 points for the Elks, and Jade James had four steals and four assists.

North Sound's Elyse Bunger had game-highs of 23 points and 16 rebounds, including 13 points in the second half. She converted 11 of 16 shots, and also had three blocks.

The Lions ended their season at 15-8.
