Shealyn Weagraff led Garfield-Palouse with 12 points as the Vikings ousted Cusick, 42-24, from the Class 1B girls state tournament Friday.

The win sends Gar-Pal (16-10) into Saturday's 9 a.m. game for fifth and eighth places.

The Vikings never trailed in the contest, though the Panthers, who ended their year at 12-15, knotted the score at 4-4 in the early moments.

Cusick suffered from icy shooting. The Panthers converted just 17 percent (9 of 36) of their shots, including making just 3 of 19 in the first half.

Amanda Smith led Cusick with 10 points and nine rebounds.
