Hull's 20 points leads
Pateros past Neah Bay

Clara Hull scored 20 points and Pateros hung on at the end to defeat Neah Bay 48-43 Wednesday in the opening round of the Class 1B girls state tournament.

Pateros (16-7) led by 13 early in the fourth quarter before Neah Bay (12-3) cut the lead to three points, 46-43, on a layup by Kelli Shuffelen with 26 seconds to play.

Hull, however, sank two free throws in the final 22 seconds to turn back the Lady Reds.

Michelle Bruno added 11 points for Pateros, and Rachel Beardslee and Danielle Batson each pulled down six rebounds.

Shuffelen led Neah Bay with 14 points, and teammate Jade Williams had 11 rebounds, two steals and three blocked shots.
